Ingredients In Hair Products to stay Away From




Sodium Lauryl (SLS)  and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)

These ingredients are used in car wash soaps, shampoos, and cleaners as a foaming agent.. It is very bad for hair because it dehydrates your scalp and if exposed to for a long time can cause irritation to the skin and inflammation.
It also irritates your eyes and skin.

Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS) and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate 

Is also used a a foaming agent in body wash and shampoos. It can cause irritation to the eyes and skin.


Diethanolamine (DEA)

It is a wetting agent used in shampoos, soaps, hairspray, and sunscreen.
It can harm brains cells.

Any Alcohols

Alcohols make hair very dry and dryness can cause breakage. They can also change the way your hair's natural state. Some can cause headaches, dizziness, and  nausea such as Isopropyl alcohol

Fragrance 

Fragrance as an ingredient means chemicals, chemicals, chemicals!! Stay away from it1 Especially if it is one of the top ingredients. Fragrance can contain up to 4000 chemicals.

Mineral Oil and Petrolatum

These ingredients prevent your hair from allowing any moisture to come in. As you might have already known this is terrible for because curly hair NEEDS moisture in order to stay healthy and hydrated.

Polyethylene Glycol  & Propylene Glycol

The main ingredient in these thickening cleaners is anti-freeze. It is used in cleaners vehicle anti-freeze and as a moisturizer in Medicine, cosmetics, mouth wash, and tobacco. They are both toxic substances and  propylene glycol can cause breakage to hair.

  1. LOL: we forgot to add silicone! BAD...It coats your hair which blocks moisture...and you know us curlies...we NEED moisture!
